Description

The Super Air R is the latest edition of the super-popular convertible helmets we have come to love from Bell. Designed from the ground up to be the best possible convertible helmet for trail shredders, it is packed full of technology. It's light, breathable and offers class-leading Flex Spherical MIPS for your safety. The chin bar is easy to add or remove with just two-clicks and the float fit system means it's quick and easy to dial your fit. To top it all off, it's available in a variety of great colours and it looks pretty rad (even without the chin bar).

Who's this item for: Perfect for Trail or Enduro riders after a convertible helmet with lots of great features.

Construction: Made with an in-mould polycarbonate shell that is bonded to an EPS foam liner. The EPS liner features a progressive layering of variable foam densities to better transfer the energy of a crash.

Rotational liner: Yes, features Flex Spherical MIPS. It manages high-speed, low speed and rotational impacts while offering greater airflow for better breathability.

Visor: The adjustable visor is able to accommodate both goggles and glasses.

Straps: Standard clip system.

Retention System: Yes, has Bells Float Fit. An easy-to-use dial adjustment system that is integrated with the Spherical MIPS.

Ventilation: It is well-ventilated with 18 helmet vents, 8 chin bar vents and 4 brow ports. The brow ports usher in cool air that is distributed through the air channel for full-head ventilation

Padding: Features X-Static padding. It is made from quick-drying materials and silver fibres that inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. No more stinky helmet!

Weight: It's light, (144 grams lighter than its predecessor) the Super Air R weighs only 640gms or 410gm without the chin bar (for a Medium).

Pros: It's lightweight, has plenty of ventilation, class-leading MIPS and makes it easy to add or remove the chin bar.

Cons: You would want something with a bit more protection for DH duties.

Bell Super Air R MIPS Convertible helmet

Great helmet and my second one after the first one did its job protecting my head, face and neck (with MIPS) after a huge stack split it open on a local black run. I've always worn BELL helmets from my days riding enduro dirtbikes 30 years ago and once again they didn't disappoint. I think this stack would've been a real bad one if it wasn't for the protection it gave me. It's a great, comfortable, cool, light weight lid👍

    Great helmet

Great helmet for long rides. Super good airflow and super light. The removable chin bar means you can ride those long climbs in comfort and strap on the chin bar for total confidence on the decent.

Perfect Full-face for when pedaling is required!!!!

This is a great super light weight full face helmet. I picked this up as I was looking for more protection then an open face, however more importantly I still required as much ventilation as possible since I'm still doing a lot of pedaling.

With chin guard removed, its still great fitting and looking helmet.

This is not your downhill specific helmet though. Its a helmet suited to enduro/trail type riding giving your more confidence when tackling difficult terrain or air-time on the trails.

I purchase the Medium and it fits my 57cm head perfectly. I installed the supplied thicker cheek pads for my narrow face.

I hope this helps, its a Bell so its always going to be great.

    Excellent helmet

After looking at a lot of online reviews and videos i decided to buy this helmet and I'm really happy with it.

The removable chin piece is really handy. I usually take it off when Im going through a slow climb section to help get a bit more air flow and it's easy to clip back on.

I really like the MIPS layer inside for added safety and feels nice on the head.

Bell make great helmets as I also have another Bell Helmet for the motocross bike. There is a lot they put into testing helmets so I know it's going to be quality

    Need a new one now

I am sitting here writing this nursing a fractured clavicle, 3 fractured ribs, and a boatload of gravel rash. but no head trauma at all!!!

OTB at 50ks into a rock garden and slid on my head and shoulder for a bit before scorpioning into the dirt. Dr's were amazed at the lack of signs of concussion considering the impact mechanism.

Will be buying another one before I'm back on the bike.

    10/10
